Continuing Medical Education

The Duke Department of Emergency Medicine offers a variety of continuing medical education (CME) opportunities to enable practitioners to provide evidence-based care, deliver educational content implementing best practices, and conduct research using advanced methods.

Highlights of our CME opportunities include: 

  • In-person education weekly to Duke faculty, Thursdays 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., for category 1 ACCME credit
  • Periodic in-person and virtual learning opportunities provide in-depth education on focused topics such as procedural simulation
  • Annual Research Showcase that highlights new research developments from basic and translational science to clinical trials. Topics may include global health, hyperbaric and undersea medicine, toxicology/snake envenomation, cardiovascular emergencies, engineering, pain management, and more. Attendees are eligible for up to 5 hours of category 1 ACCME credit.
