Catherine Staton, MD, PhD, the Catherine Wilfert Distinguished Professor of Emergency Medicine, recently received an award and was selected for a prestigious fellowship.
Mid-Career Investigator Award
At the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) in May, Staton received the SAEM’s Mid-Career Investigator Award for her excellence in research and leadership and her ongoing contributions to advancing emergency medicine.
Staton is the founding director of the Global Emergency Medicine Innovation and Implementation (GEMINI) Research Lab. Her research focuses on culturally adapted interventions in low-resource settings to improve access to quality care. Learn more about the award and Staton’s accomplishments.
Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine® Program
Staton was one of two Duke University School of Medicine faculty members selected to join the 2026-2027 class of fellows for the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine® (ELAM) Program at Drexel University College of Medicine.
ELAM and the corresponding Executive Leadership in Health Care (ELH) track are prestigious year-long fellowships aimed at expanding the national pool of outstanding candidates for leadership in academic medicine and healthcare. Fellows are chosen from among a pool of exceptional leaders capable of making critical systematic change in their institutions.
