What were you looking for in a residency program?

I was looking for a program with a fun culture, friendly folks, and a tight-knit community. In addition, I was looking for a program that would be supportive of my growth as a clinician, regardless of whether I ultimately decide to pursue a career in academics or the community.

What are the strengths of the Duke program?

There is a large volume of medically complex patients with a wide breadth in pathology. The high acuity and volume help to enrich our learning experience as resident physicians. There are plenty of procedures to go around. Our off-service rotations are with experts in their respective fields, which really supplements our growth.

What advice do you have for incoming interns?

Enjoy your time before residency! Your co-residents are awesome; do not be afraid to lean on each other. Time goes by quickly in residency, live fully in each moment, and trust the process!

What do you like best about living in Durham and the Triangle?

The Triangle is a very affordable place to live with a great food scene! Everything you may need is less than 20 minutes away! The airport is also very convenient and reliable.

What do you like to do outside of Duke?

Reading, cooking, hiking, and working out.
