Clinical and Research Interests
- Quality improvement (currently working on a project to revamp training for new residents rotating through the ED)
What were you looking for in a residency program?
Supportive atmosphere, high acuity, trauma exposure
What are the strengths of the Duke program?
High acuity (learn to take care of sick patients who are medically complex), collegial atmosphere (good, collaborative relationship with consultants), supportive environment
What advice do you have for incoming interns?
Trust in your training! Intern year can be overwhelming at times, especially when you first start out. Have faith in your day to day learning and take a moment to reflect on what you've learned every few months so you can truly appreciate your progress
What do you like best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
Rarely any traffic, everything is easily accessible (Cary and Raleigh are just a 20-30 minute drive away), lots of opportunities for outdoor activities (free paddle boarding rentals at nearby lakes, farmers markets, picnic areas)
What do you like to do outside of Duke?
Exploring hiking trails with my husband, running, eating (very impressed by the food scene in the Triangle!)
