SIREN Hub Award Announcement
We are pleased to announce that Duke University has been awarded a U24 Clinical Center Award for the NIH Network for Emergency Care Clinical Trials: Strategies to Innovate EmeRgENcy Care Clinical Trials Network (SIREN). Funded by NHLBI and NINDS, the award (1U24NS129498-01) provides nearly $2 million over 5 years for a robust infrastructure to implement clinical trials for emergency neurologic and cardiopulmonary conditions.
Duke’s application is led by Dr. Alexander Limkakeng, MD, MHSc from the Department of Emergency Medicine and Dr. Michael “Luke” James from the Department of Anesthesia-Critical Care. The award provides for the organization of 5 other academic medical centers under Duke University’s leadership: Wake Forest University Atrium Health, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Carolinas Atrium Health, Medical University of South Carolina, and WakeMed Health System. Duke University is one of 13 Hub Awards funded by NIH to create this network.
