The Emergency Medicine Global Health section from the Division of Emergency Medicine has been awarded the Global Health Endeavors Department Award by the Global Emergency Medicine Academy (GEMA). GEMA is an academy of the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine.
The Global Health Endeavors Department Award is a group award celebrating and academic department that provides flexible scheduling, buy-down for global health activities, and encourages faculty to mentor global emergency medicine trainees.
“We are now obtaining the congratulations, notoriety, praise, and publicity, which will lead to more collaborations, partnership, and projects,” says Dr. Catherine Staton, Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Emergency Medicine. “This lets everyone know that Duke Emergency not only builds academic careers for faculty, but also does incredible research around the world.”
