Through the EMS agencies for which we provide medical direction, we collaborate extensively with receiving healthcare systems to improve patient care. This includes partnering with services such as emergency medicine, neurology, cardiology, and trauma.
Our section faculty are at the forefront of innovative approaches and improvements to out-of-hospital care for both ground and aeromedical services. Examples include:
- Expansion of mobile-integrated health services such as medication for opioid use disorder
- Provision of whole blood with Duke Life Flight
Our faculty also lead important efforts to prepare the health system for large-scale disasters and mass casualty incidents through extensive training, collaboration, and planning with Duke University Health System leadership and regional partners.
