Collaborations

The Division of Translational Health Sciences aligns with current initiatives across the Department of Emergency Medicine and Duke, leveraging existing resources and improving the scope of work provided.
  • Global Emergency Medicine Innovation and Implementation (GEMINI) Center: Our research group aligns with GEMINI, focusing on the local component of access and equity in surgical care.
  • Center for Health Equity and Global SurgeryOur research works to improve surgical care for children in low-income countries, including Somaliland, Burundi, India, and Tanzania. We also add to the proposed activities of the center proposed by Dr. Tamara Fitzgerald providing evidence for the surgical gaps in North Carolina.
  • Laboratory for Transformative Administration (LTA): The LTA is heavily focused onhealthcare challenges and how to use scientific approaches to answer them. We are aligned with this goal focusing on access to care and secondary data, addressing the healthcare system's reach to the population.
  • Duke AI Health: We leverage AI Health's infrastructure within the department to support AI Health's mission, focusing on access and equity to surgical care.
  • Duke Institute for Health Innovation (DIHI): We align with DIHI's mission to catalyze transformative innovation in health and healthcare. We leverage DIHI's activities, support and funding to strengthen the focus on surgical care and outcomes to the innovation development.
